Cookie policy
What are cookies?
Cookies are small files that a website stores on your device. Websites can also keep information in your browser in a similar way, called local storage. In this policy we call all of this cookies.
In short:
- Cookies that the website and the app need to work are always on.
- On the website we count visits without cookies.
- In the app and the Journal, statistics cookies are only used if you accept them.
- We do not use advertising cookies, social media pixels or cookies that follow you across other websites.
Which cookies do we use?
1. Needed for the website and the app to work
These are always on. The law does not require your consent for them.
- Logging in. Clerk, our login service, uses these cookies to keep you logged in to the app:
__session,__client_uatand__refresh. - Your cookie choice. We remember whether you accepted statistics cookies in the app and the Journal (
everly-analytics-consent). - Your language. The website opens in the language of the link you followed. If you choose a language in the language menu, we remember that in your browser (
ev-lang), so the next pages open in that language too. - Statistics switched off. If you switch off the statistics on the website, we remember that in your browser (
everly-site-stats). - Where you came from. When you open the website, we note in this browser tab where you came from (for example a QR code or a link in an email) and which page you started on (
everly.visit). This goes along only with a form you send, and it disappears when you close the tab. - A form that could not be sent. If a form could not reach us, your browser keeps a copy of what you wrote (
everly.requests), so it is not lost and you can send it by email instead. A form that reached us leaves nothing in your browser. - What you fill in in the app. While you use the app, your browser keeps a working copy of your answers, texts, letters and settings, so the app responds quickly. Everything is also saved in your account on our servers, and the copy in the browser is removed when you sign out. Our privacy statement explains what we keep and for how long.
2. Statistics on the website, without cookies
On the website we use PostHog to see how many people visit, which pages and parts of a page they read, and which buttons they click. PostHog places no cookies for this and stores nothing on your device.
- We record which pages you open, where you came from (for example a link in an email or a QR code), how far you scroll, which buttons and links you click, and whether a form was sent. We do not record what you type in a form.
- To count visitors without cookies, PostHog turns your IP address and browser details into a code. The secret used for this changes every day and is then deleted. The code cannot be traced back to you, and a visit on another day counts as a new visitor. PostHog does not keep your IP address.
- We make no recordings of your visit to the website.
- The data is stored in the European Union (Germany). We keep it for at most 12 months.
- Do not want to be counted? Switch off statistics in this browser. We also respect the Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control settings of your browser.
3. Statistics in the app and the Journal, only with your consent
In the app and the Journal we also use PostHog, but only if you accept statistics cookies.
- PostHog records which pages you view, and a recording of how you move around the pages and click. In that recording all text and everything you type is made unreadable.
- PostHog's cookies start with
ph_. - The data is stored in the European Union (Germany). We keep statistics for at most 12 months and recordings for at most 1 month.
4. Fonts from Google
Our website loads fonts from Google Fonts. Google does not place a cookie, but your browser connects to Google's servers, and Google receives your IP address.
What we do not use
- advertising cookies;
- social media pixels, for example from Facebook or LinkedIn;
- cookies from other companies that follow you across websites.
How can you change your choice?
- On the website: use the link in section 2.
- In the app: under Profile → Privacy & data.
- In the Journal: delete the cookies and site data for everly.one in your browser settings. On your next visit we ask for your choice again.
Please note: deleting site data removes only the working copy in your browser. What you filled in in the app stays in your account. To delete it, use Profile → Privacy & data in the app.
